Social Media Marketing; Which Blogs Are Search Engine Friendly?

Social Media Marketing; Which Blogs Are Search Engine Friendly?

One of the many nuances of Social Media Marketing that fascinates me is the existence of Blog hosting sites that block their user content posts from being indexed by search engines using a "No Follow" command to robots in their site structure. I understand that this is done to discourage "Spoggers" (spam bloggers) from using their site to generate links to nefarious sites of ill repute, but how do those of us who have genuine content to post know when we are being "nulped" by posting to a blog site that blocks our content posts from being indexed by search engine spiders?

One way is to use Mozilla's Firefox browser... There is a  plugin for Firefox that will highlight ALL links on a page. The app then color codes all the links to indicate whether they are search engine friendly FOLLOW links, or spider blocked NOFOLLOW links.

For example, links with red backgrounds may be NOFOLLOW and links with green backgrounds may be FOLLOW links.
Here's what the Firefox User Reviews show for one such application plug in named "NoDoFollow":

Nice plugin, I was promoting my website for last two year, But it was very difficult to judge what link is nofollow or dofollow, but after installing this plugin it is very easy to find nofollow or dofollow links.

Thanks Zcharyfox

Once this Firefox Plug In is installed, you can then do Google Search queries for automotive or car buying related blogs. Go to each blog. Click on a post that has comments. And look at the comment links to see if they show up FOLLOW (green for example) or NOFOLLOW (red for example). Here's what a web page looks like with the links color coded to indicate whether they will be followed by search engine spiders:

Of course, if you want to do it the old fashion way, you can search Google for automotive related blogs. Go to each blog. Click on a post that has comments. Note a particular commentors link text. View the source. Search for that link text. Then look at the anchor (<a>) element and see if there is a rel="nofollow" or rel="external nofollow" attrubute associated with the commentor's link.
